Pleasant Valley finished the 2015 season with a disappointing 0-10 record. Last year Pleasant Valley finished eighth in Class 3A region six with a 0-7 region record and failed to qualify for the playoffs. No team at Pleasant Valley ever lost more games in a season than the ten they lost last year. The last time they lost as many was back in 2005. The defense allowed a team record 458 points last season. The Raiders have not qualified for the playoffs since the 2010 season and would love to end that streak this year. They have never won a playoff game in the school's history. Pleasant Valley was inconsistent offensively last year and that needs to pick up if the Raiders want to be competitive. They only averaged 15.4 points a game. Pleasant Valley struggled on the defensive side of the football last year. The defense found little success in stopping opposing offenses as they gave up an average of 45.8 points a game. The Raiders would prefer to forget the past two seasons as they have finished with a 3-17 record. Since 2010, Pleasant Valley has gone a combined 18-43. Their 30.0% winning percentage ranks 47th in Class 3A over the past six seasons. Over the past 25 seasons, Pleasant Valley has not won much with a record of 59-191. Their 24.0% winning percentage ranks 58th in Class 3A and 367th in the AHSAA. The Raiders have struggled on the football field with only three winning seasons during this time. Their last winning season was 2008. The Raiders are led by head coach Jonathan Nix who is entering his second season at the helm. His team finished with a 0-10 record in his first season at Pleasant Valley. The Raiders have yet to reach the playoffs under his direction. They have not won a region crown with Coach Nix. Coach Nix's overall record as a head football coach in seven season stands at 37-38 (49.3%). Over the course of his career, Coach Nix's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of three times and won one region championship. The Pleasant Valley Raiders will play in Class 3A region five during the 2016 season. Following realignment, the Raiders remain in 3A but move from region six over to region five. The Raiders have one of the toughest schedules in Class 3A. Their opponents had a combined record of 72-42 last season. That ranks 4th in Class 3A and 18th in the AHSAA. Region five will be one of the most competitive regions in any classification this season. The Raiders enter the 2016 season in the middle of a 12 game losing streak. They would like nothing better than to end the string of losses early in the season. This season, the Raiders will be a long shot for one of the four playoff spots in region five. After not winning a single game last year, the goal at Pleasant Valley will be to simply win some games. The Raiders open the 2016 season at home against non-region opponent Vincent on Friday, August 19 at Raider Stadium. Last year the Vincent Yellow Jackets finished with an overall record of 0-10 and in seventh place in Class 2A region four. The Yellow Jackets closed out the regular season with a loss to Talladega County Central by a score of 48-0. Pleasant Valley and Vincent have met a total of 6 times on the football field.
